Process and apparatus for forming packaging bags with a fastener

A method of manufacturing a reclosable bag comprising the steps of:

• moving a continuous length of thermoplastic film;
• and
• attaching a fastener sequentially and crosswise with respect to the direction of movement of said film, said fastener comprising a first strip containing at least one reclosable profile interlocked with another reclosable profile that is complementary thereto and contained by a second strip, which will be subsequently attached to said film;
• wherein said first strip contains one web extending substantially laterally on one side of the profile contained thereon, said web forming a U-shape in cross-section with respect to the longitudinal direction of the first strip before said web extends toward and supports said second strip;
• wherein the web is attached to the film at a first point adjacent to the curvature of the U-shape and at a second point spaced apart from said first point;
• wherein said fastener includes a peel seal strip connecting the ends of the film, said peel seal strip disposed toward the outside of the bag with respect to the first and second profiles;
• and
• wherein said fastener includes a slider for opening and closing said reclosable profiles.

A method of manufacturing a reclosable bag comprising the steps of:

• moving a continuous length of thermoplastic film;
• and
• attaching a fastener sequentially and crosswise with respect to the direction of movement of said film, said fastener comprising a first strip containing at least one reclosable profile interlocked with another reclosable profile that is complementary thereto and contained by a second strip, which will be subsequently attached to the film;
• wherein said second strip contains at least one web extending substantially laterally on one side of the profile;
• wherein said first strip contains at least one web extending substantially laterally on one side of the profile contained thereon with the lateral length of the web of the first strip exceeding the lateral length of the web of the second strip;
• wherein said exceeding length of the web of the first strip is attached to the film forming a wall of the reclosable bag;
• wherein a portion of the web of the first strip at an end opposite to said exceeding length of web is sealed to the film forming an opposite wall of the reclosable bag;
• and
• wherein said fastener includes a slider for opening and closing said reclosable profiles.

A method of manufacturing a reclosable bag comprising the steps of:

• moving a continuous length of thermoplastic film;
• and
• attaching a fastener sequentially and crosswise with respect to the direction of movement of said film, said fastener comprising a first strip containing at least one reclosable profile interlocked with another reclosable profile that is complementary thereto and contained by a second strip, which will be subsequently attached to said film;
• wherein said first strip contains one web with a membrane adapted for forming a pouring spout, said web extending substantially laterally on one side of the profile contained thereon and said membrane of the web forming a U-shape in cross-section with respect to the longitudinal direction of the first strip before said web extends from said membrane to support said second strip;
• wherein the web is attached to the film at a portion of the first strip;
• and
• wherein said fastener includes a slider for opening and closing said reclosable profiles.

A method of manufacturing a film to form a reclosable bag, comprising the steps of:

• moving the film;
• and
• attaching sequentially and crosswise with respect to the direction of movement of said film, a fastener comprising a first strip containing at least one reclosable profile interlocked with another reclosable profile that is complementary thereto and contained by a second strip, which will be subsequently attached to said film;
• wherein each of said first and second strips of said fastener contains at least one web extending substantially laterally on one side of the profile contained thereon;
• wherein said fastener further includes a first peel seal connecting the webs, said first peel seal disposed toward the inside of the bag with respect to the first and second profiles;
• and
• wherein said fastener further includes a slider for opening and closing said reclosable profiles.

A reclosable bag comprising:

• a film forming first and second walls of said reclosable bag;
• and
• a fastener comprising:
• at least one first reclosable profile supported on a first strip, said first strip including a first web extending substantially laterally from one side of said first profile, said first web being attached to an open end of said first wall;
• at least one reclosable profile being supported on a second strip, said second strip including a second web extending substantially laterally from one side of said second reclosable profile, each of said at least one profile being complementary to and engageable with a respective one of said at least one reclosable profile, said second web being attached to an open end of said second wall;
• a membrane adapted for forming a pouring spout;
• and
• a slider for opening and closing said first and second reclosable profiles.

A machine for forming, filling, and welding a reclosable bag, comprising:

• a first means for welding a first web of a fastener having complementary engageable reclosable profiles to a film;
• a forming collar disposed downstream of said first welding means, said forming collar including a first groove adapted for guiding a slider of the fastener in the direction of movement of the film;
• a filling tube;
• a second means for welding a second web of said fastener to said film, said second welding means being disposed below said filling tube;
• wherein said first and second welding means are disposed to respectively weld said first and second webs transversely with respect to the direction of movement of the film;
• and
• a third means for welding together longitudinal edges of said film.

A machine for forming, filling, and welding a reclosable bag, comprising:

• a first means for welding a first web of a fastener having complementary engageable reclosable profiles to a film;
• a filling tube having a first groove adapted for guiding a slider of the fastener when the fastener passes over said filling tube;
• a second means for welding a second web of the fastener to the film, said second welding means being disposed below said filling tube;
• wherein said first and second welding means are disposed to respectively weld the first and second webs transversely with respect to the direction of movement of the film;
• and
• a third means for welding together longitudinal edges of said film.

A machine for forming, filling, and welding a reclosable bag, comprising:

• a first means for welding a first web of a fastener having complementary engageable reclosable profiles and a slider to a film;
• a filling tube;
• a pair of opposing welding bars, said welding bars including a third groove to accommodate the slider;
• a second means for welding a second web of said fastener to said film, said second welding means being disposed below said filling tube and having a first groove to guide a slider of the fastener in the direction of movement of said film;
• wherein said first and second welding means are disposed to respectively weld said first and second webs transversely with respect to the direction of movement of the film;
• and
• a third means for welding together longitudinal edges of said film.
