Abstract
v mouldable mass of a hypoallergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive for use in connection with an ostomy appliance, said mass comprising: a) 1 to 20% by weight of a blockcopolymer having a major content of di-block copolymer, b) 5 to 60% by weight of a tackifying liquid constituent, and c) 1 to 10 % weight of a waxy constituent has superior quality with respect to cohesion, gives the mass resistance against erosion and at the same time enables the removal of the mass as an integrated unit without leaving residues at the skin.
Claims7
A mouldable mass of a hypoallergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive for use in connection with an ostomy appliance comprising a styrene block copolymer and a tackifying constituent, characterised in that the mass comprises
- a) 1 to 20% by weight of a styrene blockcopolymer having a molecular weight of from 20,000 to 150,000 and wherein the contents of di-block copolymer is above 25%,
- b) 5 to 60% by weight of a tackifying liquid constituent in the form of a viscous polymeric material being compatible with the blockcopolymer,
- c) 1 to 10% by weight of a waxy constituent and
- d) a hydrocolloid.
A method for preparing a mouldable mass of a hypoallergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive for use in connection with an ostomy appliance comprising a styrene block copolymer and a tackifying constituent wherein the mass comprises
- a) 1 to 20% by weight of a blockcopolymer having a molecular weight of from 20,000 to 150,000 wherein the contents of di-block copolymer is above 25%,
- b) 5 to 60% by weight of a tackifying liquid constituent in the form of a viscous polymeric material being compatible with the blockcopolymer,
- c) 1 to 100% by weight of a waxy constituent and
- d) a hydrocolloid, which method comprises mixing the blockcopolymer having a molecular weight of from 20,000 to 150,000 wherein the contents of di-block copolymer is above 10% and a part of the tackifying liquid constituent in the form of a viscous polymeric material being compatible with the blockcopolyme during heating at a temperature from 50 to 200° C., and admixing the remaining part of the tackifying liquid constituent and the waxy constituent, wheafter the hydrocolloid is admixed after reducing the temperature to a level below 100° C.
Use of a mouldable mass of a hypoallergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive for use in connection with an ostomy appliance comprising a styrene block copolymer and a tackifying constituent wherein the mass
- a) 1 to 20% by weight of a blockcopolymer having a molecular weight of from 20,000 to 150,000 wherein the contents of di-block copolymer is above 25%,
- b) 5 to 60% by weight of a tackifying liquid constituent in the form of a viscous polymeric material being compatible with the blockcopolymer,
- c) 1 to 10% by weight of a waxy constituent, and
- d) a hydrocolloid as a paste for preparing the skin around a stoma to provide a plane surface for placing an ostomy appliance.
