Abstract
A method for the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases treatable or preventable by potentiating the effect of a neurotrophin by administering a therapeutically effective amount of a 6(5H)-phenanthridinone derivative represented by the formula (I): 1 wherein R1, R1′, R2 and R2′ are each independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom; and one of R3 and R3′ represents an amino group and the other represents a hydrogen atom.

A method for the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases treatable or preventable by potentiating the effect of a neurotrophin, which comprises administering to a warm-blooded animal in need of such treatment or prophylaxis a therapeutically effective amount of an active ingredient, wherein said active ingredient is a 6(5H)-phenanthridinone compound represented by the formula (I):

- wherein:
- R1, R1′, R2 and R2′ are each independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom;
- one of R3 and R3 represents an amino group and the other represents a hydrogen atom;
- PROVIDED THAT when either of R1 and R1′ represents a halogen atom, the other represents a hydrogen atom;
- AND THAT when either of R2 and R2′ represents a halogen atom, the other represents a hydrogen atom;
- or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
