The present invention provides cell lines expressing one or more recombinant peripheral nerve (PN) sodium channels, preferably a human PN sodium channel. The invention also provides methods for preparing said cell lines. The invention also pertains to the use of said cell lines for the identification of PN sodium channel agonists, antagonists or modulators and methods for the identification of said agonists, antagonists or modulators. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising said agonists, antagonists or modulators. The invention also is concerned with the use of agonists, antagonists or modulators in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of chronic pain disorders.
A cell line comprising a recombinant nucleic acid, wherein said recombinant nucleic acid comprises one or more nucleotide sequences encoding one or more peripheral nerve (PN) sodium channels, wherein said PN sodium channel is stably expressed on the surface of said cell line.
A CHO cell line comprising a recombinant nucleic acid, wherein said recombinant nucleic acid comprises a nucleotide sequence encoding human peripheral nerve type 1 (PN1) sodium channel, wherein said human PN1 sodium channel is stably expressed on the surface of said cell line.
A CHO cell line comprising a recombinant nucleic acid, wherein said recombinant nucleic acid comprises a nucleotide sequence encoding human peripheral nerve type 3 (PN3) sodium channel, wherein said human PN3 sodium channel is stably expressed on the surface of said cell line.
A nucleic acid comprising one or more nucleotide sequences encoding a recombinant human peripheral nerve (PN) sodium channel or recombinant human PN sodium channels.
