A composition comprising an oil-in-water emulsion, said oil-in-water emulsion comprising a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of n-dodecyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride, n-hexadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, n-tetradecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, n-tetradecyl dimethyl ethyylbenzyl ammonium chloride, and n-octadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, wherein said oil-in-water emulsion is antimicrobial against bacteria, virus, fungi, and spores.
A composition comprising an oil-in-water emulsion, said oil-in-water emulsion comprising a discontinuous oil phase distributed in an aqueous phase, a first component comprising an alcohol or glycerol, a second component comprising a surfactant or a halogen-containing compound, and a third component comprising a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of n-dodecyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride, n-hexadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, n-tetradecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, n-tetradecyl dimethyl ethyylbenzyl ammonium chloride, and n-octadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.
