Abstract
The image forming apparatus has an image bearing member, and a developer carrying member which carries a developer to develop an electrostatic image formed on the image bearing member with the developer. In the image forming apparatus, a time period during which a peripheral velocity of the developer carrying member is lower than that during a development period is set in a non-development period.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image bearing member;
- and
- a developer carrying member which carries a developer to develop an electrostatic image formed on said image bearing member with the developer,
- wherein a time period during which a peripheral velocity of said developer carrying member is lower than that during a development period is set in a non-development period.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a plurality of image forming means each having an image bearing member, and a developer carrying member which carries a developer to develop an electrostatic image formed on said image bearing member with the developer;
- and
- transferring means for transferring an image of the developer formed on each of said image bearing member to an image receiving member,
- wherein, in at least one of said plurality of image forming means, a time period during which a peripheral of said developer carrying member is lower than that during a development period is set in a non-development period.
