Abstract
A multistage power amplifier circuit with superior isolation between gain stages provides alternative common lead currents paths from the individual gain stage elements to obtain improved stability and operational performance.
Claims8
A multistage power amplifier, comprising:
- a substrate having a common reference lead formed thereon;
- a first gain stage transistor attached to the substrate, the first gain stage transistor having a common element terminal electrically connected to the common reference lead at a first location;
- and
- a second gain stage transistor having a common element terminal electrically connected to the common reference lead at a second location,
- wherein the first and second locations on the common reference lead are sufficiently distant from one another such that the first and second gain stage transistors form substantially separate ground current paths through the common reference lead.
