Abstract
A bracket for securing the barrel of a flare launcher to the body of the flare launcher.
Claims21
An apparatus for fixing the position of a barrel of a flare launcher, comprising:
- a bracket sized and adapted to be placed on the barrel of a flare launcher, the barrel attached to a body of the flare launcher and being movable between an open position for loading the flare in the flare launcher and a closed position for launching the flare, the bracket having one or more portions sized and positioned to interfere with one or more protrusions on the body of the flare launcher, whereby when the bracket is placed on the barrel in the closed position and one or more portions are placed in a position to interfere with the one or more protrusions on the body, the barrel is fixedly held in the closed position.
A method for fixing the position of a barrel of a flare launcher, comprising the steps of:
- a. placing a bracket on a barrel of a flare launcher the barrel attached to a body of the flare launcher and being movable between an open position for loading a flare in the flare launcher and a closed position for launching the flare, the bracket having one or more tabs or portions sized and positioned to interfere with one or more protrusions on the body of the flare launcher, and
- b. positioning the bracket on the barrel when the flare launcher is in the closed position so that the tabs or portions to interfere with a protrusion on the body of the flare launcher, thereby fixedly holding the barrel in the closed position to the body of the flare launcher.
A flare launcher, comprising:
- a barrel through which at least a portion of a flare is passed in being launched;
- a body attached to the barrel so that the barrel is movable between an open position for loading the flare with the flare launcher and a closed position for launching the flare, the body including one or more protrusions, and
- a bracket located on the barrel and having one or more portions sized and positioned to interfere with the one or more protrusions when the barrel is in the closed position and the one or more portions are located in proximity to the one or more protrusions.
