A system for reading data from recording media having topographical features readable with a slider-mounted non-magnetic transducer sensitive primarily to changes in local aerodynamic boundary conditions.

A data recording medium comprising a substrate having topographical features readable with a slider-mounted non-magnetic transducer sensitive primarily to changes in local aerodynamic boundary conditions.
In combination, a data recording medium comprising a substrate having topographical features and a slider-mounted non-magnetic transducer sensitive primarily to changes to local aerodynamic boundary conditions.
A data playback system, comprising
- a) a recording medium comprising a substrate having topographical features;
- b) a slider-mounted non magnetic transducer sensitive primarily to changes in local aerodynamic boundary conditions;
- and
- c) an apparatus adapted to process signals produced by the transducer reading data from the topographical features.
A process of recording data, comprising purposefully creating in a medium topographical features readable with a slider-mounted non-magnetic transducer sensitive primarily to changes in local aerodynamic boundary conditions.
