Data Communication System

A server for a data communication system adapted to transmit a document via a network to a client computer in response to a request therefrom;

• said server comprising:
• an article memory operative to store a plurality of article documents and respective bibliographic data;
• processing circuitry configured to store an article document selection rule, and to retrieve from said article memory a subset of said plurality of article documents and assemble a document from at least part of said subset of article documents, said subset of article documents being selected according to the respective bibliographic data using said article document selection rule;
• and
• transmission circuitry responsive to said request for transmitting the assembled document onto said network for delivery to said client computer.

A method for assembling a document in a server for delivery to a client via a network, comprising the steps of:

• storing a plurality of articles and respective bibliographic data in memory;
• storing an article document selection rule in memory;
• selecting a subset of said stored plurality of article documents according to said article selection rule and the respective bibiliographic data;
• retrieving said selected subset of article documents and assembling a document from at least part of said subset of article documents;
• and
• transmitting said assembled document onto said network for delivery to said client computer.
