Facsimile having user interface with keys that enable undo, yes, no and report functions

A method of operation for a telecommunication unit that includes an operator panel with a keyboard and a display panel, said operator panel including a key designated Undo, said method comprising the steps of:

• (a) responding to a user actuation of said key designated Undo, to reverse at least an immediately previous user-commanded action;
• and
• (b) manifesting a state in existence just prior to said immediately previous operator-commanded action.

A telecommunication unit including an operator panel with a telephone-style, alpha-numeric keyboard, a subset of keys in said keyboard each having plural-assigned alphabetic characters in addition to a numeric character assignment, at least two said keys having assigned * and # values, and a display panel, said telecommunication unit further comprising:

• means for initiating an alpha-numeric entry mode of operation for said telecommunication unit, said alphanumeric mode enabling entry of alphabetic and numeric characters into character positions in said display panel;
• and
• processor means responsive to a user actuation of one of said two said keys during said alpha-numeric mode, by recognizing said actuation as a positive or negative response to a query presented on said display panel.

A facsimile unit including an operator panel with a keyboard, a display panel and a printer, said operator panel including a key designated Report, said facsimile unit comprising:

• processor means responsive to a user actuation of said key designated Report to display a menu entry on said display panel, said menu entry indicating availability of a status report, said processor means responsive to a further user actuation of said key designated Report to cause said printer to print said status report for user review.
