Systems and methods for transmitting and receiving text data via a communication device

A system for processing an incoming message comprising the steps of:

• computer readable program code to receive the incoming message at a communication node;
• computer readable program code to determine whether the incoming message comprises tones;
• computer readable program code to forward the incoming message to an interface to convert the tones to a text message if the incoming message does not include tones;
• and
• computer readable program code to forward the incoming message to one of a TDD, TTD, and TTY device if the incoming message includes tones.

A program for processing an incoming message device comprising the steps of:

• computer readable program code to receive the incoming message at a communication node;
• computer readable program code to determine whether the incoming message comprises tones;
• computer readable program code to forward the incoming message to an interface to convert the tones to a text message if the incoming message does not comprises tones;
• and
• computer readable program code to forward the incoming message to a communication device if the incoming message comprises text data.

A method of processing a text signal comprising the steps of:

• receiving an instruction signal from a first communication device at a communication node;
• establishing a connection to a second communication device in accordance with the instruction signal;
• receiving a text message having tones from the first communication device;
• determining whether the second communication device is able to receive the tones;
• forwarding the tones to an interface if the second communication device is not able to receive the tones;
• and
• forwarding the tones text message to the second communication device if the second communication device is able to receive the tones.

A system for processing a text signal comprising the steps of:

• computer readable program code to receive an instruction signal from a first communication device at a communication node;
• computer readable program code to establish a connection to a second communication device in accordance with the instruction signal;
• computer readable program code to receive a text message having tones from the first communication device;
• computer readable program code to determine whether the second communication device is able to receive the tones;
• computer readable program code to forward the tones to an interface if the second communication device is not able to receive the tones;
• and
• computer readable program code to forward the tones to the second communication device if the second communication device is able to receive the tones.

A system for processing a text signal comprising the steps of:

• computer readable program code to receive an instruction signal from a first communication device at a communication node;
• computer readable program code to establish a connection to a second communication device in accordance with the instruction signal;
• computer readable program code to receive a text message having tones from the first communication device;
• computer readable program code to determine whether the second communication device is able to receive the tones;
• computer readable program code to forward the tones to an interface if the second communication device is not able to receive the tones;
• and
• computer readable program code to forward the tones to the second communication device if the second communication device is able to receive the tones.
