Diffused reflector, liquid crystal display device constructed to use the reflector, and manufacture of the same

A diffused reflector comprising:

• a substrate;
• a thin film layer formed on said substrate and having convex and concave portions;
• a reflecting layer formed on said thin film layer;
• a flatting layer formed on said reflecting layer;
• said thin film layer being integrally formed with said reflecting layer;
• and
• said thin film layer being bonded with said substrate by an adhesive layer.

A liquid crystal display device comprising:

• a pair of substrates;
• a liquid crystal layer laid between said pair of substrates;
• an adhesive layer formed on one of said pair of substrates;
• a thin film layer having convex and concave portions and formed on said adhesive layer;
• a reflecting layer formed on said thin film layer;
• a flatting layer formed on said reflecting layer;
• and
• an electrode structure located between said flatting layer and the other one of said pair of substrates and for generating an electric field in said liquid crystal layer.

A liquid crystal display device comprising:

• one electrode substrate a having a glass substrate, a plastics layer formed on said glass substrate and having convex portions or convex and concave portions randomly formed on said layer, a reflecting layer formed on said plastics layer, an insulating and flatting layer formed on said reflecting layer, a transparent electrode formed on said insulating and flatting layer, and alignment layer formed on said transparent electrode;
• the other electrode substrate b having another glass substrate and a lamination of a transparent electrode and alignment layer formed on said glass substrate;
• both of said electrode substrates a and b are located in a manner to allow said alignment layer to be opposed to each other;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer located between both of said electrode substrates a and b.

A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device comprising the steps of:

• forming one electrode substrate by the substeps of;
• forming a thin plastics layer on the surface of a glass substrate and heading and pressing the surface of said plastics layer by means of a pattern having lots of fine convex portions or convex and concave portions randomly formed thereon, for forming fine convex portions or convex and concave portions on the surface of said plastics layer,
• forming a reflecting film on said plastics layer and an insulating and flatting layer on said reflecting film;
• forming a shading layer and a color filter layer on said insulating and flatting layer,
• forming a flatting layer on said color filter layer,
• forming a transparent electrode on said flatting layer, and
• forming alignment layer of liquid crystal on said transparent electrode;
• forming the other electrode substrate by the substeps of forming a transparent electrode on the surface of a glass substrate and alignment layer of liquid crystal on said transparent electrode;
• combining both of said electrode substrates a and b in a manner to allow said alignment layer of said substrates to be opposed to each other;
• and
• filling and sealing liquid crystal between both of said electrode substrates.
