Claims24
A method for affixing a sign to a surface, comprising:
- (a) cutting a body piece from a body material;
- (b) forming a fastening hole in the body piece;
- (c) cutting a cap piece from a cap material;
- (d) forming a template to include an alignment edge and an opening which removably engages with the first body piece, the opening being oriented relative to the alignment edge in a predetermined arrangement;
- (e) aligning and releasably affixing the template to the surface;
- (f) affixing the body piece to the surface as defined by the opening in the template;
- (g) attaching the body piece to the surface;
- and
- (h) disengaging the template from the surface.
A method for affixing a sign to a surface, comprising:
- (a) cutting a plurality of body pieces from a body material;
- (b) forming fastening holes in the body pieces;
- (c) for each body piece, cutting a cap piece from a cap material;
- (d) forming a template to include an alignment edge and openings which removably engage a corresponding body piece, the openings being located and oriented in a predetermined relation to each other and the alignment edge;
- (e) aligning and releasably affixing the template to the surface;
- (f) placing the body pieces against the surface at locations defined by the template;
- (g) forming receiving holes in the surface corresponding to the fastening holes in the body pieces;
- (h) attaching the body pieces to the surface with fasteners which are engaged with the fastening holes;
- (i) removing the from the surface;
- and
- (j) attaching the appropriate cap pieces to the body pieces to overlie the fastening holes.
A method for affixing a sign to a surface, comprising:
- (a) cutting a body piece from a body material;
- (b) forming a plurality of fastening holes at predetermined locations in the body piece;
- (c) cutting a cap piece from a cap material;
- (d) forming a template to provide an alignment edge and a plurality of pattern holes which correspond to the fastening holes;
- (e) aligning and releasably affixing the template against the surface;
- (f) forming receiving holes in the surface corresponding to the pattern holes;
- (g) removing the template from the surface;
- (h) attaching the body piece to the surface with fasteners which are engaged with the fastening holes;
- and
- (j) attaching the cap to the body piece to overlie the respective fastening hole.
A method for affixing a sign to a surface, comprising:
- (a) cutting a plurality of body pieces from a body material;
- (b) forming a plurality of fastening holes in a predetermined location in each body piece;
- (c) for each body piece, cutting a cap piece from a cap material for each body piece;
- (d) forming a template to provide an alignment edge and a plurality of pattern holes in the pattern material which match the fastening holes so that the body pieces can be located and oriented relative to each other and the alignment edge;
- (e) aligning and releasably affixing the pattern against the surface;
- (f) forming receiving holes in the surface corresponding to the pattern holes;
- (g) removing the template from the surface;
- (h) attaching the body pieces to the surface with fasteners which are engaged with the fastening holes;
- and
- (j) attaching the appropriate cap pieces to the body piece to overlie the fastening holes.
20, The method of claim 12, further comprising cutting the cap piece from a material provided with an adhesive surface layer.
An assembly for attaching a plurality of characters to a surface;
- comprising:
- (a) a plurality of characters, each character having a periphery;
- and
- (b) a template having a plurality of apertures, the apertures having a periphery corresponding to a respective character and sized to slideably receive the respective character, the template further including an alignment edge.
