Abstract
An ignition device (1) for a safety system, especially an air bag or a safety seat belt tightener of a motor vehicle, with an ignition element (2) which can be ignited through connecting means, especially connecting conductors (4, 5), is improved in regard to its automatable manufacture and enhanced reliability of operation in that the ignition element (2) is disposed and preinstalled with the connecting means in an igniter housing (3), the igniter housing (3) being insertable into the safety system at an appropriate place.
Claims11
An ignition device for a safety system comprising:
- an igniter housing;
- an igniter element disposed in said housing;
- and
- connecting means adapted to ignite said igniter element;
- wherein said igniter element is preassembled with the connecting means in said igniter housing.
The ignition device of clam 3, wherein said housing comprises an open housing having a half-shell configuration, and wherein said ignition element, said connecting means, and an end of said terminal are disposed in said open housing.
