Abstract
A variety of parameters for a scanner printer are set from a host computer on a network by arranging a scanner printer server system composed of the host computer and the scanner printer server connected to the network, and a scanner and a printer connected to the scanner printer. The scanner printer server system has a bidirectional communication channel formed between the scanner, the printer and the scanner printer server, wherein characters, graphics and a method of transferring image are instructed from the host computer and the data is transferred by the instructed transference method.
Claims14
A scanner printer system having a host computer, a scanner, a printer and a scanner printer server on a network thereof, said scanner printer system comprising:
- a bidirectional communication passage disposed between the scanner, the printer and the scanner printer server;
- input means for inputting a transference method of transferring image data;
- and
- control means for performing transference of selected data in accordance with said transference method inputted by said input means.
A color scanner printer server system comprising:
- a color scanner for reading an image;
- a color printer;
- and
- a scanner printer server connected between said color scanner and said color printer, wherein
- said scanner printer server causes said scanner to read an image in accordance with a parameter supplied from a host computer to process said image.
A scanner printer server system including a host computer and a scanner printer server connected to a network, a scanner and a printer being connected to said scanner printer server, said scanner printer server system comprising:
- a scanner printer server including
- image storage means;
- means for performing an image processing function;
- page description language conversion means;
- and
- control means for causing said image storage means to store image data read by said scanner in accordance with an instruction transferred from said host computer and to simultaneously receive page description language from said host computer, processing said stored image data in accordance with a description of said language, synthesizing said image data to an instructed place in characters described in said page description language to form an image, and outputting said image to said printer side.
