The invention relates to a brake unit (1) having a brake disc (2) of ceramic and a hub (10, 10′) of a different material, which radially overlap one another with their mutually facing rims and are mechanically joined by a wreath-type rim of mounting bolts (15) that axially penetrate the overlapping rims. Provision is made according to the present invention for the mounting bolts (15) to be uniformly included in the transmission of torque. For this, entrainment bores (5, 5′) or entrainment slots provided in the brake disc (2) are plastically lined according to the present invention with a metal or plastic sleeve (20), or the disc material is formed specifically to certain areas in this region (34) as a plastically deformable C/C structure. The invention relates furthermore to a method for manufacturing a partially ceramized molded article, in particular a brake disc (2) having a C/C structure in the area of the entrainment bores (5, 5′) or entrainment slots. The method of the present invention is based on the fact that a boron doping can effectively prevent the C/C structure from being ceramized as the result of liquid siliconization. The invention relates furthermore to a completely non-metallic brake unit (40, 50) and to a method for its manufacture.
A brake unit (1) having a nonmetallic brake disc (2) of ceramic and a metallic hub (10, 10′), which radially overlap one another with their mutually facing rims and are mechanically joined by a wreath-type rim of mounting bolts (15) that axially penetrate the overlapping rims, in the area of its inner rim (3), the brake disc (2) having corresponding entrainment bores (5, 5′) or radial entrainment slots to receive the mounting bolts (15), wherein the entrainment bores (5, 5′) or entrainment slots are lined with a sleeve (20) of plastically deformable material, or the disc material is conceived to be plastically deformable to specific areas in this region.
The brake unit as recited in one of the preceding claims, wherein the entrainment bores (5) or the entrainment slots are configured in the area of the inner rim (3) of the brake disc (2), and the hub (10, 10′) has an outwardly projecting, flange-type rim (12) that joins it to the inner rim (13) of the brake disc (2).
A brake unit (40, 50) having a brake disc (41, 51) of a fiber-reinforced ceramic material and a hub (43) of the same fiber matrix, which is also the basis, in terms of material, of the fiber-reinforced ceramic material, wherein the brake disc (41, 51) and the hub (43) are joined together, forming a bond, the hub containing boron and/or boron-containing compounds and/or boron-releasing compounds, and the fiber matrix of the hub (43) changing over to the fiber matrix of the brake disc (41, 51) and, in the transition region, changing over to silicon carbide.
