Abstract
An exercise device and method of use are provided which allows the user to exercise and strengthen the spinal and abdominal muscles. The device includes a telescoping stanchion which is tension loaded with resilient bands which can be used in multiples to increase the tension and resistance needed. The height of the stanchion can be adjusted as well as its angularly position relative to a base having a seat thereon.
Claims15
An exercise device comprising:
- a base, a movable stanchion, said stanchion joined to said base, a resilient member, said resilient member attached to said stanchion whereby pressure applied to said stanchion will cause said stanchion to move as said resilient member provides a resistance force.
A method of exercising a user's muscles on a device having a resistively movable stanchion comprising the steps of:
- (a) placing the arms of the user on the movable stanchion;
- (b) pressing the stanchion downwardly with the arms while bending the user's back;
- and
- (c) releasing the arm pressure from the stanchion.
