Abstract
Deaggregated substituted and unsubstituted polyparaphenylenes, polyparaphenylevevinyles, polyanilines, polyazines, polythiophenes, poly-p-phenylene sulfides, polyfuranes, polypyrroles, polyselenophene, polyacetylenes formed from soluble precursors and combinations thereof and copolymers thereof and methods of fabrication are described. The deaggregated polymer molecules when subsequently doped show higher electrical conductivity. Agents such as lithium chloride, m-cresol and nonylphenol are used to deaggregate the polymer molecules. The deaggregating agents can be added prior to or during doping the molecules.

A method comprising the steps of:
- providing a first admixture of an additive and a solvent;
- forming a second admixture by dissolving in said first admixture precursor polymers to electrically conducting polymers, said additive deaggregates said precursor molecules;
- thereafter adding a dopant to said second admixture to dope said precursor to be an electrically conductive polymer.
A method comprising the steps of:
- providing substituted or unsubstituted aniline molecules;
- oxidatively polymerizing said aniline molecules in an acid solution in the presence of a deaggregating agent to result in a deaggregated polyaniline molecules.
A method comprising the steps of:
- providing substituted and unsubstituted aniline molecules;
- oxidatively polymerizing said aniline molecules in an acid solution to form an electrically conductive polyaniline salt;
- neutralizing said polyaniline salt to polyaniline base;
- deaggregating said polyaniline base.
A method comprising the steps of:
- providing a group of precursor polymers to electrically conductive polymers;
- exposing said group to a deaggregating agent to deaggregate said group of precursor polymers.
