Abstract
A communication apparatus, a communication system, and a communication method are provided for relaying and receiving data from an information source which presents data services such as video data services via a network such as Internet. With this configuration, the service data can be dynamically changed and a digest corresponding to such a change can be presented. Also with this configuration, a communication apparatus, a communication system, and a communication method are provided which are capable of reducing the load of the whole network and relaying and receiving data at high efficiency.
Claims36
A communication apparatus interposed between an information source and a client via a network, comprising:
- storage means for storing a portion of data sent from the information source in accordance with setting information;
- and
- delivery means for delivering the data stored in said storage means to the client in response to a request from the client.
A communication method for a communication apparatus interposed between an information source and a client via a network, comprising:
- a storage step of storing a portion of data sent from the information source in accordance with setting information;
- and
- a delivery step of delivering the data stored at said storage step to the client in response to a request from the client.
A communication system having a relay server between an information source and a client via a network, wherein the relay server comprises:
- storage means for storing a portion of data sent from the information source in accordance with setting information;
- and
- delivery means for delivering the data stored in said storage means to the client in response to a request from the client,
- wherein the client requests a connection to the information source, to the relay server, the relay server responds to an instruction of the client, connects the information source, and transmits data sent from the information source to the client.
A communication method comprising:
- a transmission step of transmitting a communication request to a communication apparatus providing a predetermined service via a plurality of relay apparatuses;
- a reception step of receiving a response from the communication apparatus;
- and
- a setting step of setting, after the reception of the response, a communication course to the communication apparatus by omitting at least one of the plurality of relay apparatuses.
A communication method for a communication apparatus which broadcasts a message for searching one of first communication apparatuses providing services and distributed on a network in response to a request from a second communication apparatus, the communication method comprising:
- a reception step of receiving directly or indirectly receiving the message from the second communication apparatus;
- a broadcast step of broadcasting the message in a predetermined area of the network in accordance with the message;
- and
- a transmission step of, if the first communication apparatus is detected in the predetermined area, directly or indirectly transmitting a response to the detection to the second communication apparatus.
