Abstract
A fixed wireless access device (FWA) comprises a mobile terminal, a Wi-Fi® device; and a processor. The processor is configured to: determine a next active period, for the mobile terminal, within a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle of the mobile terminal; and synchronize an interval of time, for transmission or reception of data at the Wi-Fi® device, to the next active period.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine a next active period, for a mobile terminal, within a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle of the mobile terminal, wherein when determining the next active period, the processor is configured to determine an on time for the next active period;
- and
- synchronize an interval of time, for transmission or reception of data at a Wi-Fi® device, to the next active period within the DRX cycle of the mobile terminal,
- wherein when the processor synchronizes the interval of time to the next active period, the processor is configured to:
- determine a time for transmitting a Request to Send (RTS) message based on the on time, a Wi-Fi® network congestion level, and a probability of acquiring a channel of the Wi-Fi® network;
- and
- cause the Wi-Fi® device to transmit the RTS message prior to an occurrence of the active period within the DRX cycle.

A method comprising:
- determining a next active period, for a mobile terminal, within a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle, wherein determining the next active period comprises determining an on time for the next active period;
- and
- synchronizing an interval of time, for transmission or reception of data at a Wi-Fi® device, to the next active period within the DRX cycle of the mobile terminal,
- wherein when synchronizing the interval of time to the next active period comprises:
- determining a time for transmitting a Request to Send (RTS) message based on the on time, a Wi-Fi® network congestion level, and a probability of acquiring a channel of the Wi-Fi® network;
- and
- causing the Wi-Fi® device to transmit the RTS message prior to an occurrence of the active period within the DRX cycle.
4 more elements
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising processor executable instructions, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
- determine a next active period, for a mobile terminal, within a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle of the mobile terminal, wherein when determining the next active period, the processor is configured to determine an on time for the next active period;
- and
- synchronize an interval of time, for transmission or reception of data at a Wi-Fi® device, to the next active period within the DRX cycle of the mobile terminal,
- wherein when the processor synchronizes the interval of time to the next active period, the processor is configured to:
- determine a time for transmitting a Request to Send (RTS) message based on the on time, a Wi-Fi® network congestion level, and a probability of acquiring a channel of the Wi-Fi® network;
- and
- cause the Wi-Fi® device to transmit the RTS message prior to an occurrence of the active period within the DRX cycle.
