System and method of bluetooth silent pairing of a peripheral device with virtual pairing slots and automatic switching among virtual pairing slots and manual pairing channels

A method of silently pairing a plurality of information handling systems to a wireless peripheral device comprising:

• operatively pairing, via a wireless radio, the wireless peripheral device to a plurality of information handling systems via a plurality of manual pairing channels including a first virtual pairing slot associated with a first manual pairing channel;
• executing computer-readable program code instructions of a rule-based automatic channel switching module by a hardware microcontroller to engage in an automatic switching rule-based mode to switch among the plurality of manual pairing channels and the virtual pairing slots based on a priority of the plurality of manual pairing slots and the first virtual pairing slot;
• and
• executing computer-readable program code instructions of a rule-based automatic channel switching module with the hardware microcontroller to determine a switching trigger event has been received and to switch to a next available priority manual pairing channel or virtual pairing slot among the plurality of manual pairing channels and the first virtual pairing slot.

A wireless peripheral device comprising:

• a hardware microcontroller;
• a data storage device;
• a wireless radio to operatively pair the wireless peripheral device to a plurality of information handling systems via a plurality of manual pairing channels including a first virtual pairing slot associated with a first manual pairing channel;
• the hardware microcontroller to execute computer-readable program code instructions of a rule-based automatic channel switching module to engage in an automatic switching rule-based mode to switch among the plurality of manual pairing channels and virtual pairing slots and based on a priority of the plurality of manual pairing slots and the first virtual pairing slot;
• the hardware microcontroller to execute computer-readable program code instructions of the rule-based automatic channel switching module to determine a switching trigger event has been received and to switch to a next available priority channel among the plurality of manual pairing channels and the first virtual pairing slot in the automatic switching rule-based mode;
• and
• the hardware microcontroller to execute computer-readable program code of an automatic switching override mode to detect an actuation by a user of a manual channel selection button formed on a housing of the wireless peripheral device and override the prioritization of the plurality of manual pairing slots and the first virtual pairing slot of the automatic switching rule-based mode and allow for manual switching among the manual pairing channels by the user.
