Techniques for improved control channels

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving, from a network entity, a control channel transmission, the control channel transmission comprising a plurality of resource element groups (REGs) organized into one or more control channel elements based at least in part on a configuration of the control-resource set,
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs based on a first mapping or a second mapping,
• the first mapping being based on continuous indices of the plurality of REGs,
• the second mapping being based on interleaving the indices of the plurality of REGs;
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs being based on the second mapping if the control-resource set is sent via broadcast transmission;
• and
• decoding at least a portion of the control-resource set based at least in part on the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs;
• the group of the REGs being mapped to the CCE based on the second mapping if the control-resource set sent via broadcast transmission;
• and
• decode at least a portion of the control channel transmission based at least in part on the plurality of REGs being mapped to the CCE.

A network device for wireless communication, comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to cause the network device to:
• interleave resource element group (REG) indices associated with a plurality of REGs based at least in part on a broadcast transmission type of a control channel transmission;
• map a plurality of REGs to one or more control channel elements (CCEs) via a first mapping or a second mapping,
• the first mapping being based on continuous indices of the plurality of REGs,
• the second mapping being based on interleaving the indices of the plurality of REGs;
• the mapping being the second mapping if the control channel transmission is sent via a broadcast transmission;
• and
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), the control channel transmission, the control channel transmission comprising the plurality of REGs organized into the one or more control channel elements in accordance with the plurality of REGs being mapped to the CCE and a configuration of the control-resource set.

A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to cause the UE to:
• receive, from a network entity, a control channel transmission in a control region comprising a plurality of resource element groups (REGs) organized into one or more control channel elements (CCEs),
• the plurality of REGs being mappable to the one or more CCEs via a plurality of mapping options, the plurality of mapping options comprising a first mapping and a second mapping,
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs via one of the first mapping or the second mapping,
• the first mapping being based on continuous indices of the plurality of REGs,
• the second mapping being based on interleaving the indices of the plurality of REGs;
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs based on the second mapping in response to a determination that the control channel transmission is sent via broadcast transmission;
• and
• decode at least a portion of the control channel transmission based at least in part on the plurality of the REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs.

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving, from a network entity, a control channel transmission in a control region comprising a plurality of resource element groups (REGs) organized into one or more control channel elements,
• the plurality of REGs being mappable to the one or more CCEs via a plurality of mapping options, the plurality of mapping options comprising a first mapping and a second mapping,
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs via one of the first mapping or the second mapping,
• the first mapping being based on continuous indices of the plurality of REGs,
• the second mapping being based on interleaving the indices of the plurality of REGs;
• the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs based on the second mapping if in response to a determination that the control channel transmission is sent via broadcast transmission;
• and
• decoding at least a portion of the control channel transmission based at least in part on the plurality of REGs being mapped to the one or more CCEs.

A network device for wireless communication, comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to cause the network device to:
• map, for a control channel transmission, a plurality of resource element groups (REGs) to one or more control channel elements (CCEs) via one of a first mapping or a second mapping, the plurality of REGs being mappable to the one or more CCEs via a plurality of mapping options, the mapping options comprising the first mapping and the second mapping,
• the first mapping being based on continuous indices of the plurality of REGs,
• the second mapping being based on interleaving the indices of the plurality of REGs;
• the mapping being the second mapping in response to the control channel transmission being to be sent via a broadcast transmission;
• and
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), the control channel transmission that includes the plurality of REGs organized into the one or more control channel elements in accordance with the plurality of REGs being mapped to the CCE.
