## Abstract

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a method and an apparatus for operating a repeater in a wireless communication system. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a method performed by a repeater in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, a repeater control information (RCI) including information on beam via physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or medium access control (MAC) control element (CE), receiving, from the base station, a signal, and amplifying and transmitting the amplified signal, to a user equipment (UE), based on the RCI and a subcarrier spacing for the beam, wherein the RCI includes information on time for the beam.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the first beam index or the second beam index for the transmission or the receptions on the access link with the UE is identified when a first time interval corresponding to the first beam index overlaps a second time interval corresponding to the second beam index.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the configuration information includes information on periodicity and offset for the transmission on the access link.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the configuration information further includes information on subcarrier spacing.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
receiving, from the base station, medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating to change the first beam index, and
applying the change after a predetermined time from transmitting hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgement (ACK) information.

### Claim 6

A method of a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
transmitting, to a repeater via a higher layer signaling, configuration information for a transmission on an access link, the configuration information including a first beam index; and
transmitting, to the repeater via physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), control information indicating a second beam index,

wherein the repeater performs the transmission or on the access link with the UE based on the first beam index, in case that the configuration information includes the value.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the first beam index or the second beam index for the transmission or the receptions on the access link with the UE is identified when a first time interval corresponding to the first beam index overlaps a second time interval corresponding to the second beam index.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the configuration information includes information on periodicity and offset for the transmission on the access link.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the configuration information further includes information on subcarrier spacing.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, further comprising:
transmitting, to the repeater, medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating to change the first beam index,
wherein the repeater applies the change after a predetermined time from transmitting hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgement (ACK) information.
