Terrestrial traffic offloading to non-terrestrial networks

A radio access network node, comprising:

• a processor configured to process executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
• receiving, from a user equipment, a non-terrestrial capability indication indicative of a non-terrestrial network node communication capability;
• receiving, from the user equipment, a quality-of-service (“QoS”) indication indicative of at least one QoS value corresponding to a non-terrestrial network node;
• facilitating delivery of at least one traffic flow, corresponding to at least one QoS criterion, associated with the user equipment, wherein the at least one traffic flow comprises at least one first traffic flow and at least one second traffic flow, and wherein the at least one QoS criterion comprises at least one first QoS criterion and at least one second QoS criterion;
• determining that at least one first QoS value of the at least one QoS value corresponds to satisfaction of the at least one first QoS criterion to result in at least one determined first QoS value, wherein the at least one determined first QoS value corresponds to the at least one first traffic flow;
• based on the at least one determined first QoS value being determined to correspond to the satisfaction of the at least one first QoS criterion, offloading delivery of the at least one first traffic flow to the at least one non-terrestrial network node to result in offloaded traffic;
• determining that at least one QoS value of the at least one QoS value fails to correspond to satisfaction of at least one second QoS criterion to result in at least one determined second QoS value;
• based on the at least one determined second QoS value being determined to fail to correspond to satisfaction of the at least one second QoS criterion, continuing to facilitate delivery of the at least one second traffic flow.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a radio network node, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

• receiving, from a user equipment, a non-terrestrial capability indication indicative of a non-terrestrial network node communication capability;
• receiving, from the user equipment, a QoS indication indicative of at least one QoS value corresponding to a non-terrestrial network node;
• facilitating delivery of at least one traffic flow, corresponding to at least one QoS criterion, associated with the user equipment, wherein the at least one traffic flow comprises at least one first traffic flow and at least one second traffic flow, and wherein the at least one QoS criterion comprises at least one first QoS criterion and at least one second QoS criterion;
• determining that at least one first QoS value of the at least one QoS value corresponds to satisfaction of the at least one first QoS criterion to result in at least one first determined QoS value, wherein the at least one first determined QoS value corresponds to the at least one first traffic flow;
• based on the at least one first QoS value being determined to correspond to the satisfaction of the at least one first QoS criterion, offloading the delivery of the at least one first traffic flow to the non-terrestrial network node to result in offloaded traffic;
• determining that at least one second QoS value of the at least one QoS value fails to correspond to satisfaction of the at least one second QoS criterion to result in at least one second determined QoS value;
• and
• based on the at least one second determined QoS value being determined to fail to correspond to satisfaction of the at least one second QoS criterion, continuing to facilitate the delivery of the second traffic flow.
