Abstract
A method and apparatus for operations based on remaining service time in a wireless communication system is provided. A wireless device acquires information on a service time for a serving cell. A wireless device receive, from the serving cell, a measurement configuration including a first type of a measurement target and a second type of a measurement target. A wireless device determines whether to perform measurements on the second type of the measurement target, based on the information on the service time of the serving cell.
Claims6
A method, comprising,
- acquiring, by a wireless device, information on a service time for a serving cell,
- wherein the serving cell is a non-terrestrial network cell;
- receiving, by the wireless device, a measurement configuration,
- wherein the measurement configuration includes (i) information related to one or more measurement targets, (ii) indications informing whether each measurement target is either a first type of measurement target or a second type of measurement target, and (iii) information informing that measurements for the second type of measurement target are not needed while a remaining service time of the serving cell is larger than a threshold,
- wherein the first type of measurement target includes (i) a terrestrial network cell or (ii) a frequency including one or more terrestrial network cells, and
- wherein the second type of a measurement target includes (i) a non-terrestrial network cell or (ii) a frequency including one or more non-terrestrial network cells only;
- calculating, by the wireless device, the remaining service time of the serving cell based on the information on the service time for the serving cell;
- and
- determining, by the wireless device, whether to perform measurements for at least one second type of the measurement target, based on the remaining service time of the serving cell;
- based on the remaining service time of the serving cell being larger than a threshold:
- performing, by the wireless device, measurements only for the first type of the measurement target;
- and
- skipping, by the wireless device, measurements for the second type of the measurement target,
- based on the remaining service time of the serving cell being smaller than or equal to the threshold:
- performing, by the wireless device, measurements for both the first type of the measurement target and the second type of the measurement target.

A wireless device, comprising:
- a transceiver;
- a memory;
- and
- at least one processor operatively coupled to the transceiver and the memory, and configured to perform operations, the operations comprising:
- acquiring information on a service time for a serving cell,
- wherein the serving cell is a non-terrestrial network cell;
- receiving a measurement configuration,
- wherein the measurement configuration includes (i) information related to one or more measurement targets, (ii) indications informing whether each measurement target is either a first type of measurement target or a second type of measurement target, and (iii) information informing that measurements for the second type of measurement target are not needed while a remaining service time of the serving cell is larger than a threshold,
- wherein the first type of measurement target includes (i) a terrestrial network cell or (ii) a frequency including one or more terrestrial network cells, and
- wherein the second type of a measurement target includes (i) a non-terrestrial network cell or (ii) a frequency including one or more non-terrestrial network cells only:
- calculating the remaining service time of the serving cell based on the information on the service time for the serving cell;
- and
- determining whether to perform measurements for at least one second type of the measurement target, based on the remaining service time of the serving cell;
- based on the remaining service time of the serving cell being larger than a threshold:
- performing measurements only for the first type of the measurement target;
- and
- skipping measurements for the second type of the measurement target,
- based on the remaining service time of the serving cell being smaller than or equal to the threshold:
- performing measurements for both the first type of the measurement target and the second type of the measurement target.
