Abstract
A computer system for controlling and provisioning access to a smart device associated with a property includes a plurality of connected smart devices physically located within or near the property and communicatively coupled to a local communication network and a remote system server configured to communicate with the connected smart devices via an external communication network. The remote system server includes one or more processors programmed to identify the connected smart devices within or near the property and a respective device definition for each connected smart device, generate a host environment for a host user, generate a guest environment for the guest user, and enable defined control of each connected smart device within the property by the guest user, according to the access parameters.
Claims20
A computer system for controlling and provisioning access to a smart device associated with a property, the computer system comprising:
- a plurality of connected smart devices physically located within or near the property and communicatively coupled to a local communication network;
- and
- a remote system server configured to communicate with the connected smart devices via an external communication network, the remote system server comprising one or more processors programmed to:
- identify the connected smart devices within or near the property and a respective device definition for each connected smart device, the device definition representing functionality of the corresponding connected smart device;
- generate a host environment for a host user, the host environment including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating user input by the host user of access parameters limiting or defining access to each connected smart device within or near the property for a duration of stay at the property by a guest user;
- generate a guest environment for the guest user for a limited period of time associated with the duration of the stay at the property, the guest environment being different from the host environment and including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating (i) display, to the guest user, of the access parameters of each connected smart device and (ii) defined control of each connected smart device according to the access parameters, for the duration of the stay at the property;
- in advance of the stay at the property, control each connected smart device in a default state, according to default access parameters from a default access template defined within the host environment;
- and
- enable the defined control, in response to input from the guest user within the guest environment, of each connected smart device within or near the property from the default state according to the access parameters, wherein the enabling of the defined control is automatically initiated, by the one or more processors, based upon a time associated with the stay at the property and a user computing device of the guest user reaching a threshold distance of the property.
A computer-implemented method for controlling and provisioning access to a smart device associated with a property, the property including a plurality of connected smart devices physically located within or near the property and communicatively coupled to a local communication network, the method implemented using a remote system server configured to communicate with the connected smart devices via an external communication network, the method comprising:
- identifying the connected smart devices within or near the property and a respective device definition for each connected smart device, the device definition representing functionality of the corresponding connected smart device;
- generating a host environment for a host user, the host environment including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating user input by the host user of access parameters limiting or defining access to each connected smart device within or near the property for a duration of stay at the property by a guest user;
- generating a guest environment for the guest user for a limited period of time associated with the duration of the stay at the property, the guest environment being different from the host environment and including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating (i) display, to the guest user, of the access parameters of each connected smart device and (ii) defined control of each connected smart device according to the access parameters, for the duration of the stay at the property;
- in advance of the stay at the property, controlling each connected smart device in a default state, according to default access parameters from a default access template defined within the host environment;
- and
- enabling the defined control, in response to input from the guest user within the guest environment, of each connected smart device within or near the property from the default state, according to the access parameters, comprising automatically initiating the enabling of the defined control of each connected smart device based upon a time associated with the stay at the property and a user computing device of the guest user reaching a threshold distance of the property.
At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing thereon computer-executable instructions for controlling and provisioning access to a smart device associated with a property, the property including a plurality of connected smart devices physically located within or near the property and communicatively coupled to a local communication network, wherein when executed by at least one processor of a remote system server configured to communicate with the connected smart devices via an external communication network, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to:
- identify the connected smart devices within or near the property and a respective device definition for each connected smart device, the device definition representing functionality of the corresponding connected smart device;
- generate a host environment for a host user, the host environment including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating user input by the host user of access parameters limiting or defining access to each connected smart device within or near the property for a duration of stay at the property by a guest user;
- generate a guest environment for the guest user for a limited period of time associated with the duration of the stay at the property, the guest environment being different from the host environment and including a plurality of interactive user interfaces facilitating (i) display, to the guest user, of the access parameters of each connected smart device and (ii) defined control of each connected smart device according to the access parameters, for the duration of the stay at the property;
- in advance of the stay at the property, control each connected smart device in a default state, according to default access parameters from a default access template defined within the host environment;
- and
- enable the defined control, in response to input from the guest user within the guest environment, of each connected smart device within or near the property from the default state according to the access parameters, wherein the enabling of the defined control is automatically initiated, by the at least one processor, based upon a time associated with the stay at the property and a user computing device of the guest user reaching a threshold distance of the property.
