## Abstract

Systems and methods for context-based management of transparency profiles for audio headsets are described. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handing System (IHS) may include: a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to retrieve a transparency profile corresponding to a location of the IHS, and apply the transparency profile to an audio headset.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An Information Handing System (IHS), comprising:
a processor; and
a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to:
based on determining a context of the IHS, select a first transparency profile from a plurality of transparency profiles that are configured to adjust ambient sound blocked by noise cancellation capabilities of an audio headset, wherein each of the plurality of transparency profiles specify one or more sound signatures that are excluded from being blocked by the noise cancellation capabilities of the audio headset; and
apply the first transparency profile to the audio headset.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the context comprises a location, and the location comprises at least one of: work, home, or commuting.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the first transparency profile corresponds to an Automatic Noise Cancellation (ANC) setting that allows a first sound signature corresponding to a human voice to pass through while blocking other ambient sounds.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the first transparency profile comprises excluding a first sound signature from being blocked by allowing the first sound signature to pass through at an unreduced level, and excluding a second sound signature from being blocked by allowing the second sound signature to pass through at a reduced level.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the first transparency profile further comprises a list of one or more actions to be performed upon detection of a particular sound signature.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the particular sound signature corresponds to speaking, crying, dog, cat, doorbell, weather, traffic, car, train, home appliance, lawnmower, television, video, music, or radio station.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the first transparency profile is selected, at least in part, based upon an identity of one of a plurality of conference rooms where the IHS is located.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the first transparency profile is selected, at least in part, based upon an identity of a user of the IHS.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the first transparency profile is selected, at least in part, based upon a role of a user of the IHS in a remote meeting.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The IHS of claim 9, wherein the role is selected from the group consisting of: host, co-host, alternative host, and participant.

### Claim 11 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the first transparency profile is selected, at least in part, based upon a position of the IHS in a conference room.

### Claim 12 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the one or more actions comprises adjusting a transparency level of the audio headset.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The IHS of claim 12, wherein the transparency level indicates a reduction level of ambient sound reproduced by the audio headset.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The IHS of claim 12, wherein the transparency level is adjusted based, at least in part, upon at least one of: an identity of one of a plurality of conference rooms where the IHS is located, a position of the IHS in a conference room, an identity of a user of the IHS, or a role of a user of the IHS in a remote meeting.

### Claim 15 (depends on 5)

The IHS of claim 5, wherein the one or more actions comprises an audio or visual notification to a wearer of the audio headset.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the location comprises: home, office, or commute, and wherein the location is determined, at least in part, based upon a WIFI signal scan.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The IHS of claim 1, wherein the context comprises a location, and the location is determined, at least in part, in response to communications between the IHS and a video bar located in a conference room.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The IHS of claim 17, wherein the communications comprise ultrasonic communications.

### Claim 19

A memory device having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by a processor of an Information Handling System (IHS), cause the IHS to:
based on determining a context of the IHS, select a first transparency profile from a plurality of transparency profiles that are configured to adjust ambient sound blocked by noise cancellation capabilities of an audio headset, wherein each of the plurality of transparency profiles specify one or more sound signatures that are excluded from being blocked by the noise cancellation capabilities of the audio headset; and
apply the first transparency profile to the audio headset.

### Claim 20

A method, comprising:
based on determining a context of an Information Handling System (IHS), selecting a first transparency profile from a plurality of transparency profiles that are configured to adjust ambient sound blocked by noise cancellation capabilities of an audio headset, wherein each of the plurality of transparency profiles specify one or more sound signatures that are excluded from being blocked by the noise cancellation capabilities of the audio headset; and
applying the first transparency profile to the audio headset.
