## Abstract

A wearable device for recording biometric information from a person's brain can be embodied in a pair of smart headphones with electrodes or in a biauricular headset with electrodes. This wearable device can position a plurality of electrodes on a person's head at a subset of the following MCN electrode placement sites: CP1, CP2, CP3, CP4, CP5, CP6, CPz, FC1, FC2, FC3, FC4, FC5, FC6, FCz, O1, O2, Oz, P7, P8, PO7, PO8, TP7 and TP8.

## Claims

### Claim 1

Headphones with electrodes comprising:
a set of headphones;
one or more electrodes which are configured by the set of headphones to be less than one inch from the surface of a person's head;
a power source or power transducer;
a data processor; and
a data transmitter.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The headphones in claim 1 wherein the headphones cover a person's ears and loop over the top of the person's head.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The headphones in claim 1 wherein the headphones further comprise an array of electrodes which are located at a subset of the following MCN electrode placement sites—CP1, CP2, CP3, CP4, CP5, CP6, CPz, FC1, FC2, FC3, FC4, FC5, FC6, FCz, O1, O2, Oz, P7, P8, PO7, PO8, TP7 and TP8.

### Claim 4

A wearable brain activity monitor comprising:
a head-worn sensor-positioning device which is configured to position a plurality of electrodes or other brain activity sensors at selected locations on a wearer's head, wherein the sensor-positioning device snuggly loops around a portion of the lateral perimeter of the wearer's ear.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The sensor-positioning device in claim 4 wherein the sensor-positioning device positions electrodes or other brain activity sensors at two or more locations selected from placement sites T7, T8, TP7 and TP8.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The sensor-positioning device in claim 4 wherein the sensor-positioning device loops around a percentage of the lateral perimeter of the wearer's ear in the range of 25% to 70%.

### Claim 7 (depends on 4)

The sensor-positioning device in claim 4 wherein the sensor-positioning device loops around the wearer's ear between 9 o'clock to 5 o'clock locations, when locations are expressed in clock-hour positions.

### Claim 8 (depends on 4)

The sensor-positioning device in claim 4 wherein a first end of the sensor-positioning device is between 270 degree and 350 degree locations and a second end of the device is between 10 degree and 90 degree locations, when locations are expressed in polar coordinates.
