Abstract
Systems, methods, and mechanisms for an out-of-band (OOB) ultra-wide band (UWB) channel arbitration and/or channel coordination scheme. A device may scan an arbitration channel for a first time period, and based on the scanning, determine that the arbitration channel is not in use. The device may perform, on the arbitration channel, a first channel access procedure and perform, on the UWB channel, UWB communications during a UWB channel transmission opportunity.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- scanning an arbitration channel for a first time period, wherein activity on the arbitration channel is indicative of activity on an ultra-wide band (UWB) channel;
- determining, based on detecting activity on the arbitration channel during the scanning, that the arbitration channel is in use, and wherein scanning the arbitration channel comprises listening for one or more request to send (RTS) or clear to send (CTS) frames during the first time period;
- and
- initiating arbitration for access to the UWB channel during a subsequent arbitration event.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- processing circuitry in communication with the memory and configured to cause a wireless device to:
- scan, prior to transmitting an advertisement packet, an advertisement channel associated with an ultra-wide band (UWB) channel;
- transmit, periodically, the advertisement packet on the advertisement channel;
- and
- transmit, according to a UWB channel usage pattern indicated by the advertisement packet, on the UWB channel.
A non-transitory computer readable memory medium storing program instructions that, when executed by processing circuitry, cause a device to:
- scan an arbitration channel for a first time period, wherein activity on the arbitration channel is indicative of activity on an ultra-wide band (UWB) channel, and wherein scanning the arbitration channel comprises listening for one or more request to send (RTS) or clear to send (CTS) frames;
- determine, based on a scan result for an arbitration channel during a first time period, that the arbitration channel is busy;
- align local synchronization timing to a synchronization time sensed on the arbitration channel;
- and
- initiate an arbitration procedure, associated with the arbitration channel, for access to the UWB channel during a subsequent arbitration event.
