Abstract
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for tunable electrodynamic wireless power receivers. In some examples, a wireless power receiver electromechanically converts energy from a magnetic field using an oscillating or rotating magnet. A sensing device detects an operational parameter of the receiver, and a tuning device initiates a tuning action based on the operational parameter.
Claims20
A tunable wireless power transfer receiver system, comprising:
- a receiver that converts energy from a time-varying magnetic field using electromechanical conversion, wherein the receiver comprises a magnet that rotates or oscillates based on the time-varying magnetic field to generate electrical energy in the receiver;
- a sensing device that detects one or more operational parameters of the receiver;
- and
- a tuning device of the receiver configured to:
- detect a mode changing event based at least in part on the one or more operational parameters of the receiver;
- and
- initiate a mode changing action of a control mechanism based at least in part on the mode changing event, the control mechanism comprising a load controller that modifies an electrical load to perform the mode changing action, the load controller being configured to modify a resistance, inductance, or capacitance value of the electrical load in order to change a resonant frequency of a physical receiver spring of the receiver.

A method comprising:
- converting, by a receiver device, energy from a time-varying magnetic field using electromechanical conversion, wherein the receiver device comprises a magnet that rotates or oscillates based on the time-varying magnetic field to generate electrical energy in the receiver;
- detecting, by a sensing device of the receiver device, one or more operational parameter of the receiver;
- identifying, by a tuning device of the receiver device, a mode changing event based at least in part on the one or more operational parameter the receiver;
- and
- initiating, by the tuning device, a mode changing action of a control mechanism based at least in part on the mode changing event, the control mechanism comprising a load controller that modifies an electrical load to perform the mode changing action, the load controller being configured to modify a resistance, inductance, or capacitance value of the electrical load in order to change a resonant frequency of a physical receiver spring of the receiver.
