Abstract
Method and apparatus for conduit position determination are provided. A flexible conduit comprising a first end and a second end, a set of bend sensors affixed to the flexible conduit and configured to output bend data indicating bends in the flexible conduit, and a processing component configured to determine a relative position of the first end of the flexible conduit relative to the second end of the flexible conduit based on the bend data is provided.

An apparatus, comprising:
- a transmission cable comprising a first end and a second end;
- a set of bend sensors affixed to the transmission cable along a longitudinal axis of the transmission cable and configured to output bend data indicating bends in the transmission cable along perpendicular axes of the transmission cable at points within a conductor of the transmission cable surrounded by multiple bend sensors of the set of bend sensors;
- and
- a processing component configured to determine a relative position of the first end of the transmission cable relative to the second end of the transmission cable based on the bend data.

A cable comprising:
- a conductor comprising a first end and a second end;
- a set of bend sensors affixed to the conductor and configured to output bend data indicating bends in the conductor;
- and
- a transmission component configured to output the bend data to at least one of (i) a computing device coupled to the first end of the conductor or (ii) a computing device coupled to the second end of the conductor.
