Vehicle traffic control system

A vehicle traffic control system comprising:

• vehicles each comprising a travel controller comprising a vehicle processor and a vehicle memory, the vehicle processor being configured to generate a control value to control travel of the vehicle as a subject vehicle;
• and
• a server apparatus comprising a server processor, a server memory, and a storage, the server processor being configured to generate individual control information regarding each of the vehicles based on travel information regarding the vehicles, and transmit the individual control information to the vehicles, wherein
• the vehicle processor of each of the vehicles is configured to, upon receiving the individual control information addressed to the subject vehicle from the server apparatus, generate the control value for a travel control of the subject vehicle by using the received individual control information addressed to the subject vehicle,
• the storage is configured to accumulate and hold the travel information regarding each of the vehicles, the travel information being received from each of the vehicles,
• the server processor is configured to:
• when the travel information is received from one of the vehicles, record, in the storage, information regarding at least a travel position of the vehicle related to the travel information;
• and
• periodically generate the individual control information regarding each of the vehicles by using the information held in the storage,
• the server processor is further configured to, when the received travel information includes information indicating that the vehicle that has transmitted the travel information is to perform emergency evacuation to a road shoulder, and before periodically generating and transmitting the individual control information,
• identify an on-road position of the vehicle that is to perform the emergency evacuation to the road shoulder, and
• record and set a passage regulation region for prohibition or suppression of travel of another vehicle in the storage, for at least a range including a rear side in a travel direction with respect to the identified on-road position of the vehicle, and
• the server processor is further configured to:
• select each of the vehicles regarding which the information is held in the storage;
• determine, based on the information held in the storage, whether the selected vehicle is to travel in the passage regulation region held in the storage, and
• in response to determining that the selected vehicle is to travel in the passage regulation region held in the storage, periodically generate and transmit the individual control information for deceleration or a stop for the selected vehicle.
