Systems and methods for casino asset location monitoring

A method operable by a management system for monitoring locations of a plurality of gaming assets of a gaming venue, the management system comprising a host system and a plurality of location controllers in wireless communication with the host system and forming a wireless network therebetween, the method comprising:

• coupling a location controller of the plurality of location controllers to a gaming asset of the plurality of gaming assets;
• retrieving, by the location controller, information from one or more other location controllers via the wireless network, the retrieved information including one or more wireless device identifiers associated with one or more devices detected as being proximate to the location controller;
• determining, by the location controller and based at least in part on the one or more device identifiers while disregarding any wireless device identifiers associated with at least one mobile device, a location of the location controller;
• determining, by the location controller, whether the location of the location controller has changed with respect to a previously determined location of the location controller;
• and
• forwarding, by the location controller, the information retrieved via the wireless network to the host system for updating the location of the gaming asset within the gaming venue in response to determining that the location of the location controller has changed.

A management system configured to monitor locations of a plurality of devices within a gaming venue, the management system comprising:

• a host system;
• and
• a plurality of location controllers in wireless communication with the host system and forming a wireless network therebetween, at least one location controller of the plurality of location controllers configured to:
• receive wireless identifiers from at least one of the plurality of devices detected by the at least one location controller as being proximate to the at least one location controller;
• identify, based on the wireless identifiers, which of the at least one of the plurality of devices is a mobile device;
• determine whether a location of the mobile device has changed with respect to a previously determined location of the mobile device;
• and
• forward information regarding the mobile device to the host system for updating the location of the mobile device within the gaming venue in response to determining that the location of the mobile device has changed,
• wherein the host system is further configured to:
• query the mobile device in order to verify the location of the mobile device;
• and
• generate a discrepancy report in response to determining that the location of the mobile device is unverified.
