The present invention refers to a novel system, devices and method for training a neural network model to obtain a fish prediction network capable of predicting a fish presence matrix. The predicted wherein the fish presence matrix may be used to determine fishing grounds. The present invention involves a training phase including collecting catch data (e.g., fish catch attributes or fish presence events) and environmental data for a given/defined first geographical region (a training region) and reference period of time, preparing the collected data in a novel manner, and training a neural network model using the prepared collected data to obtain a highly accurate and robust trained fish-prediction engine. It may involve a second prediction phase including using the trained fish prediction engine to predict a fish-presence matrix for a second geographical region and prediction time interval, wherein the fish presence matrix may reveal favorable fishing grounds.
