Artificial intelligence assisted generation and editing of spreadsheets

A computing system comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, configure the computing system to:
• receive, by a generative response engine, a prompt that defines an agentic task to compose a spreadsheet content item;
• and
• perform, by the generative response engine, the agentic task to compose the spreadsheet content item using one or more spreadsheet editing operations, wherein performing the agentic task includes:
• recalculate spreadsheet formulas in the spreadsheet content item after one or more spreadsheet editing operations to produce recalculation results;
• detect based on the recalculation results, one or more formula errors in the spreadsheet content item;
• and
• responsive to detecting the one or more formula errors, generate and apply, by the generative response engine, one or more additional spreadsheet editing operations that modify at least one of cell values, cell formulas, or cell formatting to correct the one or more formula errors.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

• receive, by a generative response engine, a prompt that defines an agentic task to compose a spreadsheet content item;
• and
• perform, by the generative response engine, the agentic task to compose the spreadsheet content item using one or more spreadsheet editing operations, wherein performing the agentic task includes:
• recalculate spreadsheet formulas in the spreadsheet content item after one or more spreadsheet editing operations to produce recalculation results;
• detect based on the recalculation results, one or more formula errors in the spreadsheet content item;
• and
• responsive to detecting the one or more formula errors, generate and apply, by the generative response engine, one or more additional spreadsheet editing operations that modify at least one of cell values, cell formulas, or cell formatting to correct the one or more formula errors.
