Abstract
Systems and methods for detecting an interaction with an application displayed on a user interface to perform a metric exporting function of the application by using an exporter configuration that is inaccessible to a user. The system and method also includes exporting by a processing device executing an exporter, metrics generated by each of the one or more classes of the application to a monitoring program, wherein the exporter uses the exporter configuration to export the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes.

A method comprising:
- detecting an interaction with an application displayed on a user interface to perform a metric exporting function of the application by using an exporter configuration for an exporter, the exporter configuration being inaccessible to a user and including instructions that inform the exporter how to read a numerical value generated by a class of the application, wherein the instructions include a regular expression that matches a textual representation of the numerical value and the regular expression is selected based on a data type of the numerical value indicated in source code of the class;
- performing a scan of source code of the application to identify one or more classes of the application, each of the one or more classes enabling the exporter to access metrics generated by the class;
- generating the exporter configuration for the exporter based on a set of configuration rules for each of the one or more classes to prevent a crash of the application responsive to the interaction with the application;
- and
- exporting by a processing device executing the exporter, the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes of the application to a monitoring program, wherein the exporter uses the exporter configuration to export the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes.

- a memory;
- and
- a processing device operatively coupled to the memory, the processing device to:
- detect an interaction with an application displayed on a user interface to perform a metric exporting function of the application by using an exporter configuration for an exporter, the exporter configuration being inaccessible to a user and including instructions that inform the exporter how to read a numerical value generated by a class of the application, wherein the instructions include a regular expression that matches a textual representation of the numerical value and the regular expression is selected based on a data type of the numerical value indicated in source code of the class;
- perform a scan of source code of the application to identify one or more classes of the application, each of the one or more classes enabling the exporter to access metrics generated by the class;
- generate the exporter configuration for the exporter based on a set of configuration rules for each of the one or more classes to prevent a crash of the application responsive to the interaction with the application;
- and
- export, by the exporter executed by the processing device, the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes of the application to a monitoring program, wherein the exporter uses the exporter configuration to export the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:
- detect an interaction with an application displayed on a user interface to perform a metric exporting function of the application by using an exporter configuration for an exporter, the exporter configuration being inaccessible to a user and including instructions that inform the exporter how to read a numerical value generated by a class of the application, wherein the instructions include a regular expression that matches a textual representation of the numerical value and the regular expression is selected based on a data type of the numerical value indicated in source code of the class;
- perform a scan of source code of the application to identify one or more classes of the application, each of the one or more classes enabling the exporter to access metrics generated by the class;
- generate the exporter configuration for the exporter based on a set of configuration rules for each of the one or more classes to prevent a crash of the application responsive to the interaction with the application;
- and
- export, by the exporter executed by the processing device, the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes of the application to a monitoring program, wherein the exporter uses the exporter configuration to export the metrics generated by each of the one or more classes.
