Abstract
A system includes a computer system including a user interface and a monitor; a storage medium readable by the computer system and storing an application to interface the computer system and a smart speaker device; and a laser scanner to scan a bar code indicating identification data of the smart speaker device.
Claims16
A system for automated flashing and testing of smart speaker devices, comprising:
- a laser scanner to scan a bar code indicating identification data of the smart speaker device;
- a computer system including at least one processor, a user interface and a monitor;
- a non-transitory storage medium readable by the computer system and storing an application to interface the computer system and a smart speaker device;
- wherein the non-transitory storage medium stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the computer system to automatically perform:
- (i) detecting, at a universal serial bus (USB) port, a smart speaker device connected via a USB interface and determining whether the smart speaker device is in a fastboot mode;
- (ii) after scanning, with the laser scanner, a bar code on the smart speaker device indicating identification data of the smart speaker device, performing a connectivity check by comparing information electronically read from the smart speaker device with information obtained from the scanned bar code, and reading a serial number reported by the smart speaker device and comparing the serial number reported by the smart speaker device to a serial number represented by the scanned bar code to validate the smart speaker device prior to flashing;
- (iii) validating, prior to flashing and for the validated smart speaker device, a version of firmware stored on the computer system against a known latest authorized firmware version for that smart speaker device stored in a remote database;
- (iv) flashing image files of the validated firmware to the smart speaker device in a predetermined sequence;
- (v) rebooting the smart speaker device, detecting the rebooted smart speaker device at the USB port, and verifying successful boot by executing diagnostic commands specific to a model of the smart speaker device to verify that the flashed firmware is installed on the smart speaker device;
- wherein the executable instructions include commands to set and reset diagnostic access flags on each smart speaker device to ensure secure operation after flashing;
- wherein the computer system validates the firmware version against a remote database of authorized versions prior to flashing;
- the non-transitory storage medium further stores a traceability record including device identification data, firmware version, and boot verification status in a centralized database;
- a USB hub configured to connect at least one smart speaker device to the computer system.
10 more elements
A method for automated flashing and testing of smart speaker devices, comprising:
- entering a serial number of a smart speaker device into a computer system, wherein the entering of the serial number of the smart speaker device includes scanning a bar code on the smart speaker device with a scanner;
- connecting the smart speaker device to the computer system via a universal serial bus (USB) interface;
- automatically detecting, at a USB port of the computer system, the smart speaker device and determining whether the smart speaker device is in a fastboot mode;
- performing a connectivity check by comparing information electronically read from the smart speaker device with information obtained from the scanned bar code;
- reading a serial number reported by the smart speaker device and comparing the serial number reported by the smart speaker device to the serial number entered into the computer system to validate the smart speaker device prior to flashing;
- validating, prior to flashing, a version of firmware stored on the computer system against a known latest authorized firmware version for the smart speaker device stored in a remote database;
- flashing image files of the validated firmware to the smart speaker device in a predetermined sequence;
- rebooting the smart speaker device and detecting the rebooted smart speaker device at the USB port;
- verifying, by executing diagnostic commands specific to a model of the smart speaker device, that the smart speaker device boots successfully and that the flashed firmware is installed on the smart speaker device;
- resetting access flags on the smart speaker device to restrict access to the smart speaker device after verifying that the smart speaker device boots successfully;
- and
- automatically recording a result of the flashing firmware and the boot checking into a database of the computer system, wherein the recorded result is stored as a traceability record associated with the smart speaker device model, the serial number entered into the computer system, the serial number reported by the smart speaker device, the firmware version, and a boot verification status.
