Abstract
Stateless playback is performed by receiving a request from a media playback device, the request requesting a playback position associated with a collaborative media consumption session. Upon receiving the request, a playback position for the collaborative media consumption session is computed. The playback position is then communicated to the media playback device.
Claims21
A method for performing stateless playback, the method comprising:
- receiving a request from a media playback device, the request requesting a playback position associated with a collaborative media consumption session;
- in response to receiving the request, computing a particular playback position for the collaborative media consumption session, wherein the particular playback position is computed using a stateless computation isolated from previous interactions with the media playback device;
- and
- sending the particular playback position to the media playback device.
A system for performing stateless playback, system comprising:
- a memory;
- a processor coupled to the memory, the processor comprising a stateless position coordinator configured to:
- receive a request from a media playback device, the request requesting a playback position associated with a collaborative media consumption session;
- in response to receiving the request, compute a particular playback position for the collaborative media consumption session, wherein the particular playback position is computed using a stateless computation isolated from previous interactions with the media playback device;
- and
- send the particular playback position to the media playback device.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon one or more sequences of instructions for causing one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a request from a media playback device, the request requesting a playback position associated with a collaborative media consumption session;
- in response to receiving the request, computing a particular playback position for the collaborative media consumption session, wherein the particular playback position is computed using a stateless computation isolated from previous interactions with the media playback device;
- and
- sending the particular playback position to the media playback device.
