Abstract
An electronic shelf label that comprises a display unit that is adapted to display an image, wherein the electronic shelf label is adapted to operate in a customer-oriented information presentation mode in which the image represents customer-oriented information, and to operate in a staff-oriented information presentation mode in which the image represents staff oriented information, and to detect the approach of an external freely movable radio communication device relative to the electronic shelf label based on a received radio signal transmitted by the radio communication device, and to automatically activate the staff-oriented information presentation mode upon the detection of the approach of the radio communication device.
Claims20
An electronic shelf label that comprises:
- a display that is configured to display an image;
- at least one controller;
- and
- an antenna, wherein
- the at least one controller is configured:
- to operate in a customer-oriented information presentation mode in which the displayed image includes customer-oriented information,
- to operate in a staff-oriented information presentation mode in which the displayed image includes staff-oriented information, the staff-oriented information presentation mode being different from the customer-oriented information presentation mode,
- to sense a radio signal transmitted by an external freely movable radio communication device and received by the antenna,
- to generate sensing data based on the sensed radio signal,
- to detect the approach of the external freely movable radio communication device relative to the electronic shelf label based on the sensing data,
- to determine an angle of arrival of the radio communication device based on the sensed radio signal and determine whether the angle of arrival is within a predetermined angle of arrival range,
- to automatically switch from the customer-oriented information presentation mode to the staff-oriented information presentation mode and display the staff-oriented information on the display upon the detection of the approach of the radio communication device based on the determination of whether the angle of arrival is within a predetermined angle of arrival range.
