Abstract
Decoders for use in brain-computer interfaces (BCI) using contextual data to contextually decode a neural signal from an individual using the BCI and into some actionable command that allows the BCI to interact with a device coupled to the BCI.
Claims26
A method of decoding an electronic signal that is generated by a neural interface device configured to detect a brain activity of an individual using a brain computer interface, the method comprising:
- transmitting the electronic signal to a computer processor;
- receiving a contextual data comprising data on a state of one or more interactive electronic devices that are operatively connected to the brain computer interface;
- processing the electronic signal using the computer processor to produce an output signal, where the computer processor is configured to selectively apply at least one algorithm from a plurality of algorithms for decoding the electronic signal, wherein selection of the at least one algorithm is at least partially dependent on the contextual data;
- and
- electronically transmitting the output signal to the one or more interactive electronic devices such that the individual is able to interact with the one or more interactive electronic devices using the brain activity.
A method facilitating interaction between an individual using a brain computer interface and one or more electronic devices using contextual information associated with the individual, when the individual uses a neural interface device that is configured to generate an electronic signal that is decoded from a brain activity of the individual, the method comprising:
- transmitting the electronic signal to a computer processor;
- receiving a contextual input data comprising data on a state of the one or more interactive electronic devices that are operatively connected to the brain computer interface, where the contextual input data informs the brain computer interface as to which of the one or more interactive electronic devices are connected and active with the brain computer interface;
- processing the electronic signal using the computer processor to selectively apply at least one algorithm from a plurality of algorithms for decoding the electronic signal to produce an output signal, wherein selection of the at least one algorithm is at least partially dependent on the contextual input data;
- and
- electronically transmitting the output signal to the one or more electronic devices such that the individual is able to interact with the one or more electronic devices using brain activity.
