Abstract
In some embodiments, a method comprises receiving a first signal indicative of a current emotional state of one or more users, receiving a second signal corresponding to a desired emotional state, and causing a playback device to play back generative audio. The method can further comprise, after receiving the first signal and the second signal, adjusting one or more audio characteristics of the generative audio to provide at least (i) a first portion of media content having a first parameter corresponding to the current emotional state, (ii) a second portion of media content having a second parameter different than the first parameter, and (iii) an nth portion of media content having an nth parameter corresponding to the desired emotional state.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- receiving a first signal from a first sensor, the first signal being indicative of a current emotional state of a first user;
- receiving a second signal from a second sensor worn by a second user, the second signal being indicative of a current emotional state of the second user;
- receiving a third signal corresponding to a desired emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, the desired emotional state differing from the current emotional state of the first user;
- causing a playback device to play back generative audio;
- and
- during play back of the generative audio,
- receiving an indication of an updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining an expected emotional state, for a current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- wherein the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user, is different from each of the current emotional state of the first user, the current emotional state of the second user, and the desired emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining, based on the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, a dynamic threshold corresponding to a maximum acceptable difference between the determined expected emotional state and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, below which audio characteristics of the generative audio remain unchanged,
- determining that a difference between the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user exceeds the determined dynamic threshold, and
- based on the first signal, the second signal, the third signal, and the difference between the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, adjusting one or more audio characteristics of the generative audio.
A media playback system comprising:
- a playback device having one or more amplifiers configured to drive one or more audio transducers;
- one or more processors;
- and
- data storage having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the media playback system to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a first signal from a first sensor, the first signal being indicative of a current emotional state of a first user;
- receiving a second signal from a second sensor worn by a second user, the second signal being indicative of a current emotional state of the second user,
- receiving a third signal corresponding to a desired emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, the desired emotional state differing from the current emotional state of the first-user,
- causing the playback device to play back generative audio, and
- during play back of the generative audio,
- receiving an indication of an updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining an expected emotional state, for a current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining based on the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, a dynamic threshold corresponding to a maximum acceptable difference between the determined expected emotional state and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, below which audio characteristics of the generative audio remain unchanged,
- determining that a difference between the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user exceeds the dynamic threshold, and
- based on the first signal, the second signal, the third signal, and the difference between the determined expected emotional state for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, adjusting one or more audio characteristics of the generative audio.
One or more tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a media playback system, cause the media playback system to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a first signal from a first sensor, the first signal being indicative of a current emotional state of a first user;
- receiving a second signal from a second sensor worn by a second user, the second signal being indicative of a current emotional state of the second user;
- receiving a third signal corresponding to a desired emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, the desired emotional state differing from the current emotional state of the first user;
- causing a playback device to play back generative audio;
- and
- during play back of the generative audio,
- receiving an indication of an updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining an expected emotional state, for a current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user,
- determining, based on the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, a dynamic threshold corresponding to a maximum acceptable difference between the determined expected emotional state and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, below which audio characteristics of the generative audio remain unchanged,
- determining that a difference between the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user exceeds the dynamic threshold, and
- based on the first signal, the second signal, the third signal, and the difference between the determined expected emotional state, for the current time, of at least one of the first user and the second user and the updated emotional state of at least one of the first user and the second user, adjusting one or more audio characteristics of the generative audio.
