Abstract
A method of using customer premises cable modem equipment to generate a signal that can be used for leakage detection. Various signal types are described which are usable for the purposes of leakage detection.
Claims30
A method of cable network leakage detection, comprising
- finding, with a leakage detection device of a moving vehicle and without using detection time stamps, one or more leakage sources in the cable network when signals configured for a special use purpose which were transmitted from a plurality of household cable modems directly into a cable upstream spectrum and which were subject to time sequencing control by a controlling device are detected in over-the-air spectrum by the leakage detection device.
A method of cable network leakage detection, comprising
- identifying one or more leakage locations when signals configured for a special use purpose which were transmitted from a plurality of household cable modems directly into a cable upstream spectrum and which were subject to time sequencing control by a controlling device are detected with a leakage detection device arranged in a moving vehicle in over-the-air spectrum when the vehicle is in range of one or more leakage sources;
- and
- finding the one or more leakage sources at the one or more leakage locations when the signals are detected in over-the-air spectrum and without using detection time stamps.
