Abstract
According to the present disclosure, there may be provided a device and a method for extracting information including receiving precision map information, and extracting geometry information associated with each lane in a preset section using the precision map information, and determining the existence of a pocket lane using change information of the geometry information.
Claims20
A method for extracting information comprising:
- receiving precision map information including geometry information representing centerlines of lanes divided into a plurality of preset sections along a driving direction of a host vehicle;
- extracting, for each of the preset sections, geometry information corresponding to each lane;
- counting a number of the geometry information in each preset section in at least one of a first direction from a section including the host vehicle to a distant section and a second direction opposite thereto;
- determining change information based on a variation in the counted number of the geometry information between adjacent preset sections;
- and
- determining that a pocket lane exists when the change information indicates an increase in the number of geometry information in at least one preset section, and determining a location of the pocket lane based on the preset section in which the increase occurs,
- wherein the determination of the pocket lane is used to control a driving operation of the host vehicle.

A device for extracting information comprising:
- a receiver for receiving precision map information including geometry information representing centerlines of lanes divided into a plurality of preset sections along a driving direction of a host vehicle;
- and
- a determiner configured to:
- extract, for each of the preset sections, geometry information corresponding to each lane;
- count a number of the geometry information in each preset section in at least one of a first direction from a section including the host vehicle to a distant section and a second direction opposite thereto;
- determine change information based on a variation in the counted number of the geometry information between adjacent preset sections;
- and
- determine that a pocket lane exists when the change information indicates an increase in the number of geometry information in at least one preset section, and determine a location of the pocket lane based on the preset section in which the increase occurs,
- wherein the determiner is further configured to control a driving operation of the host vehicle based on the determination of the pocket lane.
