Abstract
A telescoping ball nut assembly comprising an inner nut, an outer nut, and a screw. The inner nut has a release stop located on or proximate to a first end thereof and an apply stop located on or proximate to a second end thereof, the first end opposing the second end. The outer nut has a release stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the first end of the inner nut. The screw comprises an apply stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the second end of the inner nut. Pivotal translation of the screw causes axial translation of the inner nut and/or the outer nut.
Claims20
A brake system comprising a telescoping ball nut assembly comprising:
- an inner nut having tracks and a release stop located on or proximate to a first end thereof and an apply stop located on or proximate to a second end thereof, wherein the first end opposes the second end;
- an outer nut having tracks and a release stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the first end of the inner nut;
- and
- a screw comprising tracks and an apply stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the second end of the inner nut;
- wherein pivotal translation of the screw causes axial translation of the inner nut and/or the outer nut;
- wherein the tracks of the inner nut include inner tracks disposed around an inner circumference thereof and oriented toward the screw, and outer tracks disposed around an outer circumference thereof and oriented toward the outer nut;
- and
- wherein the release stop of the inner nut is located on or proximate to a first end of the inner tracks thereof and the apply stop of the inner nut is located on or proximate to a second end of the inner tracks thereof.
