Abstract
An airfoil assembly for a turbine engine, the airfoil assembly including a platform having an upper surface and a lower surface that are spaced from one another in a radial direction; a leading edge and trailing edge that are spaced from one another in an axial direction; and a first slash face and a second slash face that are spaced from one another in a circumferential direction. An airfoil can extend in from the platform in a radial direction. A platform chamber can be defined at least partially between the upper surface and the lower surface. The platform can include an impingement channel.
Claims18
An airfoil assembly for a turbine engine, the airfoil assembly comprising:
- a platform including:
- an upper surface and a lower surface that are spaced from one another in a radial direction;
- a leading edge and a trailing edge that are spaced from one another in an axial direction;
- and
- a first slash face and a second slash face that are spaced from one another in a circumferential direction;
- an airfoil extending from the platform in the radial direction, the airfoil including a root that is proximal to the platform and a tip that is distal from the platform;
- a platform chamber defined at least partially between the upper surface and the lower surface;
- an impingement channel located within the platform, the impingement channel including:
- a first segment extending from the platform chamber toward a first impingement surface that is adjacent one of the first slash face, the second slash face, the leading edge, or the trailing edge, and
- a second segment extending from a distal end of the first segment toward the upper surface or the lower surface;
- and
- a cooling hole fluidly coupling a distal end of the impingement channel with the corresponding upper surface or the corresponding lower surface toward which the second segment extends;
- wherein the impingement channel includes a second impingement surface and a third segment;
- wherein the second segment extends from the first impingement surface to the second impingement surface;
- wherein the third segment extends from the second impingement surface to the cooling hole;
- and
- wherein a hydraulic diameter of the third segment is larger than a hydraulic diameter of the second segment.
