Abstract
A method of retrofitting a service rig includes obtaining a service rig having a powered service equipment for performing well service operations, an engine, and a transmission connected to and powering the powered service equipment. The method also includes disconnecting the engine and the transmission from the powered service equipment and removing the powered service equipment. The method further includes retrofitting the service rig with a plurality of electrically powered equipment for performing the well service operations, wherein the plurality of electrically powered equipment are operable while disconnected from the transmission.
Claims25
A method of retrofitting a service rig, comprising:
- obtaining a service rig having a first plurality of powered service equipment for performing well service operations, an engine, and a transmission connected to and powering the first plurality of powered service equipment;
- disconnecting the engine and the transmission from the first plurality of powered service equipment;
- removing the first plurality of powered service equipment;
- and
- retrofitting the service rig with a second plurality of electrically powered equipment for performing the well service operations, wherein the second plurality of electrically powered equipment are operable while disconnected from the engine and the transmission.
A method of retrofitting a service rig, comprising:
- obtaining a service rig having a chassis and a first drawworks for performing well service operations, an engine, and a transmission connected to and powering the first drawworks;
- disconnecting the transmission from the first drawworks;
- removing the first drawworks and the transmission from the chassis;
- and
- retrofitting the service rig with a second drawworks for performing well service operations and an electric motor for powering the second drawworks;
- and
- coupling a support system to the service rig to electrically support the electric motor.
A method of retrofitting a service rig, comprising:
- obtaining a service rig having a first well service equipment for performing a well service operation, an engine and a transmission connected to and powering the first well service equipment;
- disconnecting the first well service equipment from the engine and the transmission;
- removing the first well service equipment;
- and
- retrofitting the service rig with a second well service equipment for performing the well service operation and an electrical motor connected to and powering the second well service equipment, wherein the electrical motor is disconnected from the transmission.
