Abstract
Various examples are directed to a solar power electrolyzer system comprising a first electrolyzer stack, a second electrolyzer stack, a first converter and a first converter controller. The first electrolyzer stack may be electrically coupled in series with a photovoltaic array. The first converter may be electrically coupled in series with the first electrolyzer stack and electrically coupled in series with the photovoltaic array. The second electrolyzer stack electrically may be coupled at an output of the first converter. The first converter controller may be configured to control a current gain of the first converter.

An electrolyzer system comprising:
- a power supply configured to provide a stack current to a first electrolyzer stack electrically coupled to the power supply;
- a converter electrically coupled to provide an excitation current to the first electrolyzer stack;
- a converter controller to control the excitation current provided to the first electrolyzer stack;
- and
- an excitation signal generator configured to perform operations comprising generating a reference excitation signal, the converter controller being configured to perform operations comprising configuring the converter to generate the excitation current based at least in part on the reference excitation signal.
A method of operating an electrolyzer system, the electrolyzer system comprising a power supply electrically coupled to provide a stack current to a first electrolyzer stack electrically coupled to the power supply;
- a converter;
- a converter controller;
- and an excitation signal generator, the method comprising:
- generating, by the excitation signal generator, a reference excitation signal;
- configuring the converter, by the converter controller, to generate an excitation signal based at least in part on the reference excitation signal;
- and
- providing, by the converter, the excitation current to the first electrolyzer stack, a current provided to the first electrolyzer stack being based at least in part on the stack current and the excitation current.
An electrolyzer system comprising:
- means for providing a stack current to a first electrolyzer stack;
- a converter electrically coupled to provide an excitation current to the first electrolyzer stack;
- means for controlling the excitation current provided to the first electrolyzer stack;
- and
- means for generating a reference excitation signal, the excitation current being based at least in part on the reference excitation signal.
