Abstract
The present disclosure relates to apparatuses, systems and methods for culturing cells. In particular, devices and methods are provided for generation and culture of 3d cell aggregates.
Claims19
A cell culture substrate, comprising:
- an array of microwells, each microwell comprising:
- an opening into the microwell defined by a top well edge;
- a rounded well-bottom;
- and
- corrugated sidewalls positioned above the array of microwells, which extend along rows in the array and are configured such that a gap between any two corrugated sidewalls widens and narrows with each corrugation, wherein each microwell is fluidly connected to at least one other microwell by the gap between the corrugated sidewalls, wherein the corrugated sidewalls do not have any polygonal angles.
2 more elements
A cell culture device, comprising:
- a plurality of microwells disposed therein, each microwell comprising:
- an upper portion, and
- a lower portion, wherein the lower portion is a rounded well bottom;
- wherein the plurality of microwells is arranged in rows;
- wherein each row is defined by two corrugated sidewalls that extend along each row and above each microwell's lower portion, and are aligned such that a continuous gap exists along each row that is between the sidewalls and widens and narrows with each corrugation;
- and
- wherein an upper portion of each microwell comprises part of each of the two corrugated sidewalls and is in fluid communication with adjacent microwells through the continuous gap;
- wherein the two corrugated sidewalls do not have any polygonal angles.
