## Abstract

According to various embodiments, an extruded foam is formed from a composition comprising from 1 to 99 wt % of a silicone-functionalized polyethylene comprising a reaction product of the polymerization of ethylene and (meth)acrylic ester functionalized polydimethylsiloxane, and a physical blowing agent. The foam has a density of less than or equal to 0.200 g/cm3 as measured in accordance with ASTM D1622-88 at 25° C.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An extruded foam formed from a composition comprising:
from 1 to 99 wt % of a silicone-functionalized polyethylene comprising a reaction product of the polymerization of ethylene monomer with methacrylic ester functionalized polydimethylsiloxane; and
a physical blowing agent;
wherein the extruded foam has a density of less than or equal to 0.200 g/cm3 as measured in accordance with ASTM D1622-88 at 25° C.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the silicone-functionalized polyethylene has a polydispersity index (PDI) of from 3 to 14.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the silicone-functionalized polyethylene comprises one or more of the following structures:
where R1 is a bridge group that connects functional group methacrylate with siloxane, R2 is an end group selected from the group consisting of alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, H, and OH, x is an integer from 10 to 1000, y is an integer from 1 to 20, and PE is an ethylene-based polymeric branch.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises from greater than 0 to 99 wt % of at least one additional olefinic polymer.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The extruded foam according to claim 4, wherein the at least one additional olefinic polymer comprises LDPE.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises from greater than 0 to 2 wt % permeability modifier.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The extruded foam according to claim 6, wherein the permeability modifier comprises an amide or an ester of a C10 to C24 fatty acid.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the physical blowing agent comprises carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, or mixtures thereof.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the physical blowing agent is present in an amount of 5 to 20 wt %.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the extruded foam is open-cell.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The extruded foam according to claim 10, wherein the extruded foam has a density of from 0.090 to 0.200 g/cm3.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The extruded foam according to claim 1, wherein the extruded foam is closed-cell.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The extruded foam according to claim 12, wherein the extruded foam has a density of from 0.015 to 0.200 g/cm3.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The extruded foam according to claim 8, wherein the hydrocarbons are selected from isobutane, n-butane, isomers of pentane, or mixtures thereof.
